Sometimes you really don't know what another person is going through until you walk in their shoes and sleep in their bed. Perhaps the email you got was a just a delayed update to a posting that occurred prior to his hiring you. And about the wife, things may not be right at home. Is it possible that the wife is seriously ill, thus the migraines and the odd looks from the boss when you mention her?

Things aren't always what they seem. In this roller coaster ride we call life, we can't always be sure where the next twist and turn will lead us. Sometimes you just have to hold on, ride it out, and hope that time will give you the answers. When you work for someone else you aren't in control.

If you don't feel secure or happy in your current position, then perhaps sending out the resume (and many more) is the right thing to do. Good luck, and I sincerely hope you find out what is going on.
