I understand what you are saying and it has been said many times here on this thread. The problem here IMHO, as in other places online, is that some people decide a person is being mean just by thinking they know a "tone". I have seen it so many times over the years here. I am not an inherently unkind person but have been accused of it just because I am honest; so my response was based upon my experience.
The written word does not have a "sound" or "tone" and everyone interprets differently.
Things have blown up on this forum for no earthly reason ... and folks message one another and aggravate the situation more.
When people keep their posts to their own opinions and thoughts, things go more smoothly...it is when people try to tell someone that a poster is mean that makes things go off the rails.
I am of the firm opinion that most people who spend a lot of time trying to help others are not mean.
