I did the same with Duchess, I have about a 2.5 hour drive to go pick her up but in my case, Duchess hated riding in cars. She was 2 years old when I got her. Almost 3 years later she still hates riding in cars.

I went by myself and I wish I would of taking someone with me to help keep her calm. She had so much anxiety the entire drive home. I had to stop several times to calm her down. Even today, she can only tolerate being in a car for about an 30 minutes before her anxiety kicks in.

On longer trips, I have to give her sedatives to keep her calm. If you can, try to see if someone will go with you just in case you little one hates riding in cars. It is very stressful for the driver if our little ones are having a hard time. Duchess will pace and she gets so worked up, she starts vomiting.
