 Welcoming my new yorkie

I'm so glad I found this forum .. And looking forward for your advice
I have just added an almost 7 month old baby to the family .. And we are so exited !!
We named him Henry
Henry was givin up by his perviuse owner because she had to travel abroad to study .. He staid in a pet hotel for 6 weeks now and now we are making arrangements to welcome him to his new home ..
My question is
Henry is 4 hours drive from where I live
I was planning to pick him up and drive back on the same day
But a Freind told me that it's not wise as hi will be scared and confused .. And it's better to spend one night together for him to get to know me and feel safe before thanking the 4 hours trip back home ..
Is it ok to pick him and drive back instantly ? Or shall I arrange to stay a night at a hotel before we drive back ?
I know this seems a silly question but i really want this new pup to be very very happy .. And stress free
