At his age especially, a consistent routine will be very helpful. You have a baby there...lots of joy, lots of patience. He'll quickly figure out how things work; what happens when and all that and will eventually settle down--even at bedtime. Insofar as this recent bout of 'insomnia' maybe he's uncomfortable because of heat (Be very careful that he doesn't over-do with running around, etc. You have to limit his exercise (because he won't) to ensure he doesn't get heat stroke. In extreme hot temperatures, veterinarians suggest no more than 20 minutes outside once in the morning and again in cool of the evening. Also, about an hour before calling it a night, try to keep him still and quiet...cuz once revved-up, it's not easy for puppies to suddenly stop! I'll bet he's one precious, fun, silly little handful, yes?!
