Last year the local news reported coyote sightings within city limits; with continuing drought all types of wild animals were seeking food and water and of course, this included coyotes. One of the scarier warnings stated that coyotes were known to observe a residence for several days, learn the routine of the occupants and then lay-in-wait--ready to grab cat or dog the second that pet walked outside! So it would seem prudent for those who have had coyote sightings, to keep your pet inside for an extra minute while you check the immediate area for these determined predators (although I think most of us go in and out with our little ones, not matter what...)
