Animal Smiley 019 Has anyone else had this happened to anyone?

I have a 6 month old Yorkie. She is pretty energetic and loves to aggravate her brother ( an older and very gentle English Springer Spaniel). I was gone for 5 hours and left her in her kennel. When I came home, I immediately took her out and we went outside to use the restroom.

She was acting like her normal self. Running around, chasing birds. We came back inside and I gave her a treat. I laid on the love seat sitting up listening to her eat some dog food. I fell asleep and suddenly I woke up to her whining beside me. I looked at her and notice she had slobbered all over the cushion and her mouth was shut tightly. I immediately tried picked her up and tried to open her jaw. She refused to open it for me. I thought she got something stuck. (She is ALWAYS getting into something) Finally I got her mouth to open and she jumped down.

I got my mother and she knew something was wrong with her. She tried to grab her but she ran underneath the bed. When she did that, she seemed lifeless like she was trying to pass away. I called the vet (after hours) and he finally called me back saying to give her some honey. He thought it was low blood sugar. She was like lifeless in my mom's arms and very limp. Her breathing was very shallow. We had to force the honey in her mouth. The vet said she should be okay in 30 minutes. If not, we needed to call him back.

Well 30 minutes passed by and still no change. Only this time, she was leaving faint whines to where they were loud whines. I called him back and he told me to come in. We came in and her blood sugar was normal. Her temperature was normal. He didn't like the way she was laying. At this point, she didn't want to stand up or walk. He gave her a shot and told her to stay over the night and in the morning, he was going to do some X-rays.

I went home crying my eyes out because I didn't think she was going to make it through the night. I didn't get much sleep. When it was time to get up and go to the vet, I headed that way. I even got there before him and his nurses let me in. I went back there to see her and her eyes were more lively but still not a lot of movement when she sees me. Which is SO NOT like her.

He did the X-rays and he didn't see anything out of the ordinary. (He let me see the digital X-ray and was pointing everything out) The only thing he could tell is the upper "brackets" of her spine was not spaced out as much as the ones in her middle of her spine and back. He said it could be a pinched nerve and the excess slobbering was due to pain. He gave me 10 mg Prednisone to give her once a day. When we got her home, she was still whining. It was so heartbreaking to see and hear.

Around 3:30, I finally called the vet back and asked the if the medicine they gave me is helping with the pain. And they said yes. But after I did research, it isn't for pain. They said I could go ahead and give her one pill today to jump start the healing process. So I gave her the pill with some cheese and some pedilight. Again, she was whining but I think it was a combination with her being in pain, hungry, and thirsty.

As of now, she was able to eat regular food (we had to wait for 8 due to the fact that she was sedated for the X-ray). She ate a little less than half and drank some water. She is peeing but no bowel movement. She whimpers a little but not as much as she did when we brought her home. We made her a pallet of blankets in the floor. She doesn't want to snuggle with us on the bed. I had asked a nurse friend and she said that I could probably give her 1/4th of a baby aspirin. So I did. She seems to be a little better.

My question to anyone who reads this LONG passage is... Has anyone had this sort of thing happen to their Yorkie? To this extreme where their Yorkie's body was limp and sort of lifeless? Any story of similarity would be much appreciated. I know we aren't out of the woods yet until I see my happy go lucky little Lady. All she is doing is resting. Which is probably the best.
