Welcome to YorkieTalk, Amber, and congratulations on getting your new baby! I know you must be very excited. Like fasteddie said, you can bathe them anytime you feel they need it ... I, personally, can't stand it if Toto smells like a dog!! Our breeder gave us "Coat Handlers" shampoo and conditioner [that's what she uses on all her show dogs] and that's been a year ago and I haven't had to buy shampoo yet! It's concentrated and you dilute it with distilled water! I really like it and since I bathe Toto at least once a week, it has never caused any skin problems. I bought all kinds of brushes ... found that the one that works best is a round, boar bristle brush that I have had laying around the house for over twenty years!! If you begin brushing while they are real young, they get used to it .... Toto will get on my lap when she see's me getting her grooming stuff ready and will even lie on her back for me to brush her!!! She has a long coat and it tangles easily so I try to brush her every day ... dilute conditioner and "mist" it as you brush and it will help prevent breakage of the hair! Looking forward to hearing all about your new baby!!
