Grooming habits are easiest to teach to pups. Genetics plays a big role in determining dental health, but brushing helps reduce tartar buildup and helps keep the gums healthy. The gumline is where problems start since dogs do not get cavities like humans.
My dream would be to train my boys as well as Sugarmama did her girls to accept the Sonicare electric toothbrush. Sugar (RIP) had really bad teeth and oral disease, but the Sonicare helped tremendously and Sugar was able to go longer between vet cleanings.
