I just read this thread and was thinking how angry I'd be too! The closest I came to this experience was leaving my 5 month old baby with a friend who has a Yorkie because we went on vacation. When we came back, they trimmed his bangs because they were over hanging into his eyes. I was so upset! But oh well, can't blame friends. They thought they were doing what was best, as they do to their own dog.
Anyway. SOOO glad you made a complaint to the manager and that you got a full refund. It's ridiculous they even charged you for it. They should have been apologizing profusely instead.
Like other suggested, you can try out grooming yourself. It's a really fun bonding experience between you and your little one
