My Piper is 9 1/2 lbs of pure perfection (for me)! She's just littlelittlelittle and very easy to hold. She is also large enough to negotiate steps, getting on and off furniture, in and out of car and so; and though I've almost sat on her a couple of times when she "steals" my place on couch, I don't worry about stepping on her...
