Dewclaws are actually pretty important- they help the dog to grip especially during tight turns and the muscles and ligaments that are attached to them can cause problems (mostly arthritis later on) if they are clipped.

Loose, floppy claws can go- but the ones with bones, those have muscles and tendons too and do actually serve a purpose.
