Seriously though, I didn't mean to offend. I've got some extra free time today, and thought this might be something we could discuss, and maybe share some stories. I don't get to see many yorkies around here, so it's great to hear others experiences. You can't tell by a pic if a yorkies 4 lbs or 10!
I don't think anyone minds educating, (In case you haven't noticed, I LOVE to talk about my girl) but there are those out their who come across as if we (the yorkie owners) don't really know what we've got. I've been told by strangers, and in no uncertain terms, that she's not a yorkie, but a silky, and I've had people tell me that I was taken because she's so big (mind you this BIG dog is only 8 " tall) that she can't possibly be pure bred....but now I've happily got my teapot comment ready! |
I think this is a great topic to discuss. I am amazed when I hear how small yorkies can be because the only yorkie I have ever owned, "little" Ted, is a whapping 15 1/2 pounds. He weighs more than both his parents combined!
I'll try to post a couple pictures here through photobucket. This is my yorkie, Ted and a pic of my three dogs with me. My little maltese is 7 pounds and the yorkie mix is 18 pounds.
