Angry Garbanzo beans aka chickpeas

Has anyone else encountered severe diarrhea when feeding foods with chickpeas? My girls have "iron stomachs" and eat almost anything. I make it a point to offer them small amounts lots of different foods (both dog friendly human and dog) and they eat almost everything I offer them. I do this to provide variety in tastes and textures and to help avoid stomach upsets in the event that they go on an unauthorized "food raid" aka get into the garbage.

Some time back I made a food switch -- can't even remember what I switched from or to, but to "to" food was a super premium grain free food with chickpeas that I thought was a better quality than the "from" food. Lacie and Gypsy Rose developed loose stools, but Lollie wound up with a severe case of diarrhea that required a trip to the vet.

It took an expensive bag of inferior food (Royal Canine Hydrolized Protein) to get her straightened out and now I carefully avoid any food that has the dreaded chickpeas garbanzo beans. I even have to be sure that Lollie doesn't scarf up a dropped sprouted chickpea from Tsali's cage.

The girls are "regular" again and I am now feeding Earthborn Holistic Small Breed with great success.
