Friends,

While visiting family our beloved 9 year old female Yorkie (~4 lbs) was bitten on the ear by a large copperhead snake. We brought her to the emergency vet within 20 minutes but she steadily declined over 2 days and we had to put her to sleep today at the advice of two very experienced vets.

So please keep a careful eye out in your yards as the snakes are getting active. While I was at the vet (several trips over the past 2 days) there were many other cases of snake bites being treated so I just wanted to pass along the cautionary note.
