There's a normal number of deaths- even with terrible luck and tragedy, no one should be loosing so many.

Of the dogs I have had, which is now 5 in my life, we lost two to old age and cancer, and three are still living. One continually gets sick and has brushes with death (poor immune system, epilepsy, is a senior), and two are in excellent health. Only one of those dogs was well bred (he got cancer, he died when I was a tiny toddler), the rest have been pound pups and rescues. All of them have either lived long lives, or are still alive.

Something more is going on. If I can keep my elderly, epileptic, immune suppressed, luxating patellas, 5 pound chihuahua alive and happy and healthy and really THRIVING despite his troubles, then there is no reason that all of these dogs should be dying like this at young ages.
