Piper's favorite thing in the world is going for walks. Since she is alone all night while I work and because she doesn't ask for much, I let her set the pace (quick) and reel out/in homemade 25' leash as we go. Piper, too, puts her little beak into overdrive and tomboy that she is, 'marks' as well. When she takes too much time investigating, I simply keep walking and when necessary pull on leash. Now that we're into the heat of summer, Piper will often find lush, damp grass and will drop to her belly, sometimes just lies still, other times she'll do the roll-thang. I try to give her whatever time is reasonable to do her antics or we'll stop while she watches something that has caught her eye. She is very good about ignoring barking, running dogs as we walk by and she's happy with whatever route I choose. I don't mind her terrier-trotting ahead as it's her happy time to be out and about...!
