Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Changes in behavior, especially going to out of the way places in your home, are often a sign that something is wrong. Seeking heat is also worrisome.
When was his last checkup? Did he have bloodwork and urinalysis done? If it has been 6 months or more, I would definitely see the vet. The changes in behavior warrant a vet visit anyway. Could be something serious, and might be something that medication could help with quality of life.
Biggest concern is making sure he isn't in pain. Many Yorkies will hide pain or not express it in an obvious way.
