Odd Behavior Hello everyone. I have read several helpful posts here before, but this is my first post. Murphy is a little over 13 years old, and lately is doing things that are out of his usual character. He has never liked to lay on the floor or on the patio outside, or even in the yard. He always preferred to be up on a chair, ottoman, or sofa. But lately, I find him just lying in the middle of the living room floor, or in odd little out of the way places in the house. Also he wants to stay outside in the heat, lying in the grass, or even in the driveway in the sun! I have to pick him up to make him come inside! He is practically blind, running into doors and walls, can't hear unless we clap loudly, and often has trouble staying on his feet. He is also becoming incontinent, just peeing in open places in the hous, and even when he sleeps, which he wants to do more and more. He has lost weight, but his last checkup at the vet was a good one. He can still get around okay most of the time, and will still bark occasionally, but we just aren't sure what his quality of life really is. He is our first Yorkie, and we're pretty attached. He is also on medication for separation anxiety--he goes crazy and uses the bathroom all over himself if left in his kennel for more than just a couple of hours. Any advice? Sorry for the long post! |
