I feed Gracie kibble made by Fromm. It's the Fromm Gold for small breeds. I recently changed from the Fromm Beef Frittata to the Gold line. The Gold is much smaller kibble, about the size of a lentil but slightly thicker whereas the Beef Frittata was about the size of a small pea. The Gold is pretty expensive stuff so I will continue with that until the bag is gone but will look into the Rachael Ray kibble along with the "canned". We are on the same wave length here, too, because, omg!, Gracie will not eat dry kibble!... it has to be mixed with something wet and I've been using a portion of a tray of Cesar brand in the little plastic trays.
Does your little one do what Gracie does? When I put her bowl down, she sniffs it then looks around like trying to be very nonchalant... she looks at the baseboard trim and sniffs it like as if she never saw it before... then gives another sniff to the food and maybe a lick-lick... then walks away. Once in a while she surprises me and eats the whole bowlful... and she knows she gets a special treat if she cleans it up. She runs out to where I'm sitting to get my attention, as if saying, hey, I ate it all... where's my treat! I mean, she'll jump up and shove my leg until I go look at her bowl.
I don't know.. these Yorkies have got a mind of their own and can be so frustrating but I would be so lost without her.
Now to look up Rachel Ray Kibble... many thanks for the FYI! |
Our dogs must be related! lol Allie does that, sniffs the bowl, sniffs the floor then walks away, like you got to be kidding me that's what I get to eat? lol
When she does eat she wants to really play, she plays hard a lot anyway but especially after she ate. When I do call her to eat, she used to be SO excited now she walks real slow with her ears down like she's going to get scolded, it's the weirdest thing I have ever seen. Allie's first dose of Nexgard was in April......I didn't really notice anything until after her 2nd dose. It happened like overnight, a dog that absolutely loved her food and would race you to the kitchen to a dog that hides out in her bed when you say it's time to eat. Odd.........the vet asked if their was stress in the home and I said nothing in her life has changed except giving her the Nexgard. So I didn't want to take a chance and put that in her system again so back to the Vectra we went. There was one day where she ate perfect like always. I thought for sure she
was coming out of it, then the next day back not wanting it again. But at least I found a wet food I can mix in that she likes. GOOD luck with yours...let me know how it goes.
Do you recall when she got fussy?
