So true! They're extra stinky after being outside in the rain.
I also use an air purifier when needed.

I don't have carpet (except for my bedroom which they're not allowed in), so I guess it's a little easier for me to maintain.

I have a routine of washing their feet with dog shampoo after each walk (because Scottie pees all over his feet every single time). I think this really helps keep all the smells out. And if they start to get stinky, it's bath time (usually every 2 to 3 weeks, depending how dirty they feel)!
