So sorry about your accident. Do hope you are doing well. Take care of yourself before bringing home a new baby. You will need lots of energy. Ha!
If you ever close the pen door make sure he can't climb out. My climbed out @ 12 weeks. If he used to going in & out on his own he won't like being closed in. Does your pen have a top?
When you say putting him on a line outside I do hope it's a leash with a harness.
Never put a Yorkie on a long wire outside.
