I have 2 boys and the older one accepted the younger one immediately. There were some issues to work out, an adjustment period as Ann described, but overall it was a positive experience.
My older one did well with dogs outside our home. That may have helped. Sometimes puppy antics can be annoying to the older dog. Make sure Maxx has a place to escape the puppy when he wants a break.
A couple of my friends had older Yorkie boys when they added girl puppies. Their boys were very accepting of the puppies and acted almost parental toward them. You may luck out that way.
