May I ask, what is it about this thread that made you think you wanted to get her breeder's info? There are so many red flags with this person's story, it just makes me think you saw a cute dog and didn't read any of the thread.
Yes, start with the YTCA. Avoid breeders who advertise in the local paper, craigslist, etc. When you see puppies, make sure the mom is there at least. If there are a bunch of puppies and no mom, that person is most likely a broker. Ask plenty of questions, and if you get the run around or excuses, skip them and go find another. It's hard to find a good breeder. I'd say 99.9% of them are no good. It's hard to find that .1%, but those are the best of the best. If you think you don't need a beautiful show quality dog, then please consider rescuing one.
