I've seen a couple of posts where some yorkies had a condition where they kept breathing when drinking. Typically dogs hold their breath while drinking. The posts I read just used a water bottle as apposed to the bowl. Kind of like a hampster/rabbit bottle. You may want to check with your vet to see if she has this condition but it doesn't seem to take a lot to help, just a new drinking tool.
