I'm glad your story has a happy ending. Very scary! I'm not sure how my boys would react if they were loose and a stranger tried to rescue them. When Max realizes he is out of my control, like at the vet's office when I have to hand him over, he ends up sucking up to the person with kisses. Teddy might be resistant.
