Yeah to me it is six of one or 1/2 dozen of the other - about training a dog to accept or not treats from others. Service dogs and guard and protect dogs have specific needs that need to be trained in in order to do their work effectively.

Other performance dogs or pet dogs don't have the same requirements. I always remember the story of an exhibitor of BRT's who had a heart attack in the ring. Her dog stood guard over her and would not let anyone approach. Thankfully she survived. But it was only after the show super could locate someone who knew her and the dog to call the dog off.
