Years ago I had a pup that developed a small umbilical hernia after she had a bout of constipation. It was a small hernia about the size of a grape but it was really hard. I think her straining to potty caused it. I rushed her to the vet and he did surgery immediately but it turned out that it was only fatty tissue that was protruding. She did just fine after the surgery.
I think you would have better peace of mind if you had it fixed, not knowing for sure if it is a real hernia or just fatty tissue. Please keep us posted on how she does.
