Tapeworm: small rice like things on the rear end or in your pup's poop, sometimes the pieces move like worms. Max had this once. Usually it is from swallowing fleas, but we didn't have fleas. Our vet said that Max may have eaten a bunny poop or something and gotten it that way.
Lepto: rare cases can be asymptomatic, but usually the dog will have a fever, lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea. Lepto is also transmitted through water droplets in grass or standing water. There is a vaccine but it only covers 4 of 100+ strains.
I have to steer my boys away from bird droppings too. Yorkies!
