For some reason, I'm really confused. So, you don't yet have this puppy...but you know he gets carsick and you've tried giving him ginger...? How did you try ginger if you don't yet have him? I'm confused.
Whatever the case here, if you have a pet that gets extremely car sick like this, then you absolutely DO need to give meds - and I'd get one that works from the vet - not just ginger or benadryl. Carsickness is just misery - so please don't take it lightly by giving some random OTC meds - please get something specific from the vet.
