I tried with my girl last year in a little pool (at one year old), but it's hard to say if she liked it or not as we only got to do it for one day. I even tried adding boiled water to the pool water to warm it up faster and it was still fairly cool. I know she doesn't like the cold and it's not great for her joints, so I got a new inflatable pool for this year and hope to have it set up somewhere that the water can be left out for more than a day or so, so it can warm up properly. It's got a seat so I can place her there when she needs a break or wants to chill out. I already know her back legs don't kick or move much when she's in the water, though her front legs will paddle vigorously. I had gotten her a life/swim jacket and though it does help her float some I still hold onto the straps to support her swimming.
But yea whether she likes it or not, she needs the exercise and she has luxating patella issue, so this is more water therapy for her. I'm hoping to get her to like it at least enough to want to exercise. ^^; But yea I agree with the others, a bit after the shots at least. When wanting to use the pool immediately, add some boiled water when the pool is almost half filled, believe it or not, it takes a good bit for it to be too hot. But do add a bit at a time, mix and test temperature till it's just right.
