I hesitate to post this here - but animal neglect laws are so different county to county or province to province. If that dog was housed and fed appropriately it might be hard to prove *medical nein.glect* particularly if she has had regular vet check ups for her dog. This in no way condones what i think she did to this wee senior. My heart aches for this poor dog.

I know for me this thread hit me so hard as I deal on a daily basis with my own senior. I can not imagine ever ever leaving him in pain--but he is moving slower and with more effort despite his meds. But he so enjoys his walks and travelling with Mom in the car. His appetite is good too. The vet says he is doing well and his bloodwork a month ago is Aokay as well as his urine and feces analysis. But do I really understand his pain level that he is in? IDK for sure. As a woman with RA I deal and live with pain every day = does that mean some human should PTS me? Is it not okay to let our dogs live with some sort of pain? After all we humans do it all the time.

These are tough questions - and ones that are brought to the forefront of my mind as Canada debates assisted suicide laws...

Pain in life is a part of the human experience and I am not talking about emotional pain but physical pain too.
