Default Yorkie suddenly afraid of going on walks

Hey everyone, hope this is the right place to post this. My 9 month old Yorkie used to love going for walks every day until recently. He used to jump and yelp and run to get his leash and would lap up every second of the walk and never wanted to come home. That changed about three weeks ago when we walked by a house having a new roof put on and as we passed by, one of the workers tossed a big piece of wood off the roof which landed on the driveway in front of us and made a very large and sudden noise which made him jump. He started bolting on the leash to run home as fast as he could and since then, he is not excited like he used to be when asked if he wants to go for a walk. He trembles at the question and sits very frequently on the walk when I do get him out, refusing to move. He seems constantly on edge now on walks and like he'd rather be anywhere else. It's so sad because walks were his favourite thing in the world. I gave him a few days without walks to see if he forgot but he didn't, I've tried walking by at times when no workers are outside, I've tried alternate routes, I've even carried him the whole way several times to show him there was no harm. It's incredibly frustrating because I don't want something like this to ruin his favourite thing.
