Welcome! I have a 3 year old 8 lb Yorkie named Cricket. My mom and dad have a basset hound named Tebow that weighs about 58 lbs! So it's quite a size difference but we watch them play together and we keep them separated when they can't be watched. I'm sure your Australian shepherd will get used to the new family member.
