Our pup, years ago, acquired an infection at an injection site. Vets do not typically sanitize the area prior to injections, and dogs can roll in some nasty stuff. Honestly, I am not sure why there are not more infections at injection sites. Hers started out as a bump, then with antibiotics, it drained. Then, the fur never would grow back over that area. It was about the size of a nickle on an 11lb dog.

I do all our pups/poochies vaccines now (except rabies) and I sanitize the area first.
