I would wait a bit longer for the toy breeds about 1yr old by then for sure their growth plates have closed and you get to see the more adult personality of your dog. For large to giant breeds it is much later more like 18-24 months old. And this is a general statement specific breeds have much higher risk(s) of certain cancers if they are s+n.
