I'm not sure about small breed dogs, but with larger breed dogs you would want to wait at least until they are fully grown or 1+ year of age, as they use those hormones to grow, for their bones, etc.

Well, he's Five-Years old and a healthy happy yorkie. I was told that with him not able to release his hormones (because he's not mating) that it would cause him stress. I don't want to do an unnecessary surgery, to a otherwise happy and healthy dog. So I'm trying to figure out if it is truly worth it or not. My parents seemed to agree after being told that (the stress thing), but I'm still a little iffy.
(Our vet is not some money hungry vet, his practice is very busy and he will recommend us not to use X needle if our pup does not need it, and will give discounts when they can. So my parents trust his word. Not that I do not trust him, but I've never really seen the necessity of spaying/neutering your dog if you are not worried about them accidentally mating or if they do not have overly aggressive tendencies.)
Things such as, yes there is a slightly less chance of getting testicular? cancer, but with the surgery chances of other conditions increase? (there are specifics, I just do not remember them of the top of my head)

And when you say do dental, could you please explain what you mean by that?
