As for your food, i'd highly suggest you not give table scraps. This is more of a training thing... you just need to be firm and consistent. It can be tempting but you need to stick to one thing, ie. it does not help to not feed table scraps, and then once a week decide you are going to.

You could also try teaching a place command for when you are eating. Also not making eye contact with your pup helps. My dad feels *emotional*, so that he feels sorry and needs to give our boy table scraps. I can eat the exact same meal and my boy knows he's not getting anything and will not bother asking. I'm trying to get my dad to stop as well! (It's getting better.)

If you are really worried, a vet visit never hurts!
