My now passed girls (4 in all) would bark if a fly flew over Alaska lol, yorkies have excellent hearing, yes they were barkers. My rescue boy who was 2.5 y/o when I got him will bark if my land line phone rings, he sees squirrels, birds, dogs or if someone comes to the house. Compared to my girls I would say he does not bark a lot lol, he also does not bark when I leave him home alone. I think you would be taking a chance in getting a dog period. There is no guarantee a dog will not bark at something. Neighbors are a pain in the butt, one bark a day could be annoying to them, I would hate to see you get a dog, fall in love with it, then have to give it up for disturbing the neighbors, that will tear your heart out and if you have children it would be devastating to them. I would stay away from getting a dog as long as you are living in this apartment. Good luck in making the decision to get or not get a dog.
