The last time I had a dog was over 15 years ago so consider me somewhat new at all of this adventure. Im constantly researching on the internet to make sure I'm doing the right thing. Mimi is 2 months, 17 days old. I've already started teaching her to "potty" on the puppy pads and she is doing great! No luck with "come". However, she seems to respond to "no" as long as you do not yell it at her. I have her scheduled for new puppy training in a week and can't wait to get her outside to play. Any words of wisdom or suggestions are welcome.... |
Big congrats and big welcome to YT
Isn't it funny that even with previous dog experience, Yorkies seem like an entirely new species? lol
You'll find a lot of great information here. I've certainly learned a lot. Many very helpful and resourceful members here too!
As with "come", just make sure that each time she comes to you on her own to celebrate and say "good girl, come" or something like that. Try to have kibble/treats on you (i.e. pockets etc) all the time so you give her one whenever she comes to you. And just make sure that no matter what the situation, even if she's been bad, to never punish her when she comes to you (i.e. don't say "come here, you've been a bad girl" etc..)
