diabetes Our dog sadie was pregnant with only one puppy. We took her in for a c-section and she lost the puppy about 3 weeks ago. She was in a week before I noticed some dark green discharge and the vet said to bring her in, the puppy still had a heart beat. Not sure what happened. The vet never said when to bring her back in, if she didn't go into labor. I called a week later and they said to bring her in and of course it was to late. She was constantly drinking water and peeing on the floor. I thought that it was because she was pregnant and just couldn't hold it. Well she was still peeing on the floor and drinking alot of water. I asked the vet about it when I took her in to get her staples out--plus she lost 4 lbs she said she wasn't concerned about her weight ( she weighed 13# for the last 4-5 years) and now she was 10.5# and her blood showed high gluecose before she had her c-section. The vet said that it was only because she was pregnant. I took a urine sample in yesterday and they left a message saying she had high sugar in her urine and possibly diabetes, have to take her back in for more tests. What happens if she does have diabetes? do they need daily shots or medication? or is there anything else that can be done? |
