No matter what the price, focus on the health guarantee and the breeder's commitment to rearing healthy puppies. Many people bring puppies home with coccidia, giardia, fleas, mites, worms. Those alone are expensive to treat. Then there are the common Yorkie genetic problems of luxating patellas (legs), liver shunt, and so on. Those can run into the thousands to treat.
Sometimes show breeders will hold back puppies for potential show and release them to pet homes before 1 year of age for a reasonable price (under $1000 here in Virginia).
Rescues and shelters sometimes have Yorkies, but as you know, there is a high demand. Takes patience and lots of legwork.
When you do find the right dog for you, look into health insurance. Best wishes in your search. | I completely agree . I do not believe that the price is a reflection of the conditions of the Yorkie . If I have to pay for the dog then thats fine but I would NEVER pay thousands for a dog . |
