Black means the tooth was decayed. Food gets trapped between the double teeth, leading to bacteria growth and decay. That is why vets recommend removing the baby teeth under anesthesia if they do not fall out naturally.
Most people have it done when the dog is spayed/neutered. Max had 6 removed with no problem. He was back to eating kibble by evening.
