We feel that Lucy had a compromised immune system caused by a storm of incidences (over-immunization, over breeding, exposure to pesticides, caught up in a few food recalls, etc) If we had too much wet weather she would get a bout of stomach issues- The vet would prescribe a short course of flagyl and ID food. The probiotics were a long term preventive, to keep her GI strong. I did change all her dishes to stainless (no crockery), rinsed her feet after walks (she was a terrible licker) No processed treats or chewing(rawhide, knots) items, etc. It was a slow process of finding out what set her off and keeping her on schedule.
