Thanks for that! I think in my area, dogs are more for working, etc. Although, there are getting to be more and more I see and hear about that our for companions. I have a Yorkie and a German Sheppard. Both companions, both guard dogs! I think that sometimes people do get a pet that is "just the craze" at the time and I sure hope those pets have a lovely home when that craze is over with. You should look for a dog that resembles you and what you like, etc. Some people may not like or do good with a lab puppy because they are hyper, big, loves to play and be outside and swim. Others may not like a Yorkie because they need your attention, constent grooming and care, etc. It is all based on your schedules, etc. I just hate to see dogs that are tied to a tree or in a pen all day without getting petted or played with and only seeing their human at meal time.
