Well.... this question can't really be answered at this time. All animals are different, just like people when it comes to grieving. I have had both dogs & cats go through the grieving process & each one grieves differently. My PooKat stayed in my room on my bed except to eat, drink & use the potty box when her Annie passed away. I really thought we might loose her at one point but after I rescued LillyMae the PooKat finally decided to come out & be part of the family again. You will just have to wait & see how the remaining dog reacts when the time comes. Often my other pets will show signs of grieving for a wk or 2 but none have been as bad as my PooKat. Annie was my Shep/X who was 2 at the time I brought PooKat into the family & PooKat was around 3 mo old & PooKat decided that Annie was her dog & best friend immidiatly upon entrance to my house & for the next 11 1/2 yrs they spent many hrs sharing the same bed with PooKat cleaning on Annie's ears.
