The only chihuahuas I've encountered have been, as you said, one-person dogs and mean as hell to everyone else. I used to work for a hospice agency and one of our patients had one -- the dog wouldn't let anyone near the patient, not even the family members! Providing patient care was a major headache as the dog would snarl, snap and try to bite!
Since you're going to be caring for the dog quite often, make sure you like the dog, too! LOL, can you convince your daughter to get a Yorkie, instead?
