One of my dogs has long hair year round. Her hair is straight and almost like human hair. The other one is kept in a puppy cut year round. His hair is cottony and somewhat curly. It easily tangles, and he hates to get brushed. I think it depends on the dog and your willingness to deal with the upkeep. Both ways are cute.
