bed time with my shirt and now my big throw blanket for her to snuggle up in.

You want her to associate you with good things; that's why treats are SO important to establish trust.
I'm so glad you have your little one to help you through difficult times. My Gidget isn't a service dog but she does provide support for me and I'm sure even more as she gets older and we are together more. My hubby of 55 yrs passed away recently and she's always there at the door when I come home. Right now she's my "companion dog" but she'll also turn out to be my emotional support. This isn't recognized as a service animal but she does perform an important service for me. She follows me everywhere I go in the house. Right now, she's laying at my feet while I'm on the computer. I do give her lots of treats and praise when she does good things. She's a quick learner so I know we'll be fine. I'm looking forward to a long and happy life with my "Gidgy girl".
