I see that no one has replied yet, so I will post a link to my thread about when I had my Bella spayed. She had stitches for two weeks, so I suspect that the recovery time is about the same for spaying and neutering. She couldn't reach the stitches, so we didn't use the E collar. When she had more extensive luxating patella surgery, we used an inflatable E collar for comfort instead of the hard plastic one. If Loki still needs his E collar, I recommend the inflatable one. It's like an inflatable air mattress around the neck, and it's much more comfortable than the hard plastic one. Plus it's easier to put on and take off.
